Described as ‘World War Z with fangs’, 20th Century Fox and director/producer Shawn Levy have acquired the rights to adapt the upcoming novel A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising.
Written by Raymond A. Villareal as the first of four books, the novel is taking inspiration from World War Z with its use of the same oral history format. The story will be dealing with the “appearance, assimilation and ultimately epic and violent confrontation of vampires with the human race”.
The story will be told from a number of perspectives, including the investigator who first notices the spread of a new ‘virus’, the first FBI agent assigned to the Gloaming [vampire] Crimes Unit, a librarian working in the Vatican, a civil rights attorney, and even the gossip website TMZ.
This is the latest in a series of upcoming vampire projects, with many of them coming to the small screen - including Anne Rice’s hope to adapt her Vampire Chronicles into a TV series.
