Chaos Walking is set to be the latest addition of the young-adult book series based in a dystopian future to hit cinema screens. We already mentioned back in August that everyone's favourite Daisy Ridley had joined the movie but now our web-slinging friend Tom Holland is joining alongside her.
Chaos Walking, written by Patrick Ness, is one book of a series based in a world where humans have set up planetary colonies. A disease starts to spread that causes your thoughts to be audible to everyone around you, which you can imagine is less than ideal when you have handsome people like Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley walking around.
A corrupt leader then takes control of the human settlements to attack a native alien race who he blames for the infection. Todd Hewitt, a young boy in a town populated only by men, goes on the run as he attempts to rebel against the destruction of the native Spackles (No seriously, they call them Spackles) and teams up with a mysterious girl who seems to have a patch of thought-silence.
So we have some safe assumptions here. Tom Holland isn't fully on board just yet, but if he does sign along the dotted line then we're pretty certain that he'll be playing the young Todd. Ridley is confirmed to be playing the mysterious girl so finger crossed we're going to get the Ridley-Holland double team. Rolland? Ridland? Hodley?
This project has been going on for a little while now and is going to go through at least another director, the script having gone through drafts by Charlie Kaufman and James Linden already. But, with the cast starting to take shape, the cogs are now turning and we should be expecting a shooting date any day now.
