Ridley Scott may be pushing back Neill Blomkamp's foray into the Alien universe but he is making a surprising move by bringing Alien: Covenant forward a whole 3 months with the release of the first official poster, featuring the infamous Xenomorph.
Ridley Scott is making his return to the world of Alien with this film. It is set to be a sequel to 2012's Prometheus, thus acting as a further prequel to the original 1979 classic sci-fi horror. We have had a lovely collection of set photos shown to us over the last few months but we now have the first official piece of marketing for Alien: Covenantwith the poster, check it out below!
As we can see it's very much going back to the core elements of the original: pure and simple horror. A black background shows the emerging head of the unmistakable Xenomorph with the lone caption "Run" above it.
Almost distractingly interesting, however, is the date of "May 19". This comes as quite the surprise as we weren't expecting to see this film until 4th August. This is quite the date change but hey, we're not complaining! Prometheus divided people (which means I was the only person who liked it) but everything we've seen and heard about this movie tells tales of a return to form for Scott.
Alien: Covenant will see the return of Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace from Prometheus as the spaceship Covenant discovers a 'paradise lost', the crew starring Danny McBride, Billy Crudup and lead actor Katherine Waterston (who we saw recently as Porpentina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ).
