As we now have some fancy new posters for the upcoming Power Rangers movie we now have the news of some more talent being added to the cast. One of the old favourite comedy relief characters of the original series is set to be voiced by comedy actor Bill Hader.
If anyone remembers the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers you’ll recall the character Alpha 5; the somewhat goofy robotic assistant of the might Zordon. He was generally a comedy relief character, bumbling about as he took care of the Power Rangers’ base of operations. He is now confirmed to be in the upcoming movie and voiced by the infinitely hilarious Bill Hader.
Hader is known primarily as a comedian who has moved onto the silver screen in movies like Trainwreck, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and 22 Jump Street. He is also no stranger to voice work having, most recently, featured in Finding Dory, Inside Out and The Angry Birds Movie. He also has countless other voice-based credits including a vocal consultant for Star Wars’ BB-8, the voice of the computer of the USS Vengeance in Star Trek Into Darkness and the fight voice for Scott Pilgrim VS The World. In short, Hader is a man with an incredible voice acting portfolio who is a solid choice to voice the friendly robot assistant.
Hader is the latest well-known actor to join the Power Rangers cast which already boasts Elizabeth Banks as the big-bad Rita Repulsa and Bryan Cranston as the big-good Zordon. Alpha 5 is a quintessential part of the Power Rangers world so I’m personally very happy to hear that he’ll be a part of this first Hollywood blockbuster franchise for the Rangers.
Power Rangers will be blasting onto screens next year on 24th March 2017.
