Warner Bros Japan has green lit a live action movie of the Bleach manga series. This comes as the manga series is coming to a close, so Warner Bros appear to want to make a show of expediting the project. Therefore they have cast the actor for the main character Ichigo Kurosaki.
It has been confirmed that Sota Fukushi (23) shall play Ichigo Kurosaki, a casting that will hopefully match up with his experience in physically demanding roles. This casting comes as a pleasant surprise after the rather surprising casting choice of Willem Dafoe in the Death Note film, Death Note: Light Up The New World. Death Note is being led by the same director as Bleach, Shinsuke Sato.
Bleach anime ran for 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012 and the manga has been serialized for 15 years leading up to the soon conclusion. Bleach has a supporting cast of over 300, so we imagine there may be a fair few more announcements, but they will definitely have to cut down on the appearances. The film is expected to hit cinemas in 2018, so fans will have a long time to wait but hopefully if the castings are of this caliber then we should expect that it will be worth the wait.
