The 2015 film adaptation of the horror series we all devoured as kids is getting a sequel.
A sequel to supernatural comedy Goosebumps was rumoured back in April, but now it has been confirmed for a January 2018 release.
The original film’s creative team - director Rob Letterman, screenwriter Darren Lemke, and producers Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz - will also be working on the sequel. There’s no word yet on whether Jack Black will be returning as author R. L. Stine, but the studio is hoping that he will.
No word yet on the plot, either, but the first film was well received by audiences and critics - not exactly groundbreaking cinema, but nostalgic and fun nonetheless - and took a pretty decent $150 million at box office from a $58 million budget (though it had more success on home video).
We’ll keep you posted as more information comes out. Filming for the sequel is due to begin this year.
