James McAvoy stars as Kevin, a man struggling with Dissociative Identity Disorder, in the new M. Night Shyamalan thriller Split.
McAvoy finds himself truly pushing his acting skills to the limit in this film, portraying a man with 23 individual personalities as identified by his therapist. Among them is a man who kidnaps and imprisons young women - for what reason, we don’t know, but it doesn’t seem to be anything good.
The young captives need an escape, and look to Kevin’s other personalities - among them, a nine-year-old boy called Hedwig and a woman whose name we don’t know - for help. Meanwhile, his therapist worries that he is possibly becoming something new.
You can watch the eerie trailer below, featuring McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy as prisoner Casey, and Betty Buckley as Kevin’s therapist, Dr. Fletcher. Split will be released in UK cinemas on 20th January 2017.
