The three actors are set to join Jeremy Saulnier's latest, a tense thriller set in the Alaskan wilderness.
Following on from his successes with Blue Ruin and Green Room, Jeremy Saulnier is getting ready to take us to the edges of our seats again with what sounds like another intense, claustrophobic thriller, this time set in the Alaskan wilderness as a wolf hunter attempts to track down a young child who's gone missing. Considering the extremely horrifying dog-inflicted violence in Green Room, we're likely going to have another pants-soiler on our hands here, and this writer couldn't be more excited for such a prospect.
The screenplay, adapted from a novel by William Giraldi, was penned by long-time Saulnier collaborator Macon Blair, whose own offbeat thriller I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore is getting plaudits aplenty at festivals right now. Here's hoping he also turns up in a side role, because Blair always a joy to watch.
Wright, Skarsgard, and Dale are joining Riley Keough and James Bloor, presumably to form some kind of ultimate megazord of fantastic character actors. All have proved themselves multiple times over in the past, particular Jeffrey Wright, who's earned a lifetime pass from this writer for his work on the recent Westworld series, as well as basically every other role he's ever had. This guy is the real deal.
Hold the Dark is still very much in pre-production, but has a planned release for some time 2018. This writer'll be waiting with baited breath to have the bejeezus scared out of him.
