J.J. Abrams is returning to the Star Wars franchise for Episode IX.
The news comes direct from Star Wars' official Instagram page. Abrams, who rebooted the franchise with The Force Awakens in 2015, will be directing and writing the ninth film. Chris Terrio is on board as co-writer, and the film will be produced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Abrams, Bad Robot, and Lucasfilm.
“With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy,” Kennedy said.
We'll have more on this as it develops, but in the meantime, let us know what you think!
