The Hollywood rumourmill is spinning at the moment and the latest whispers suggest that director Matthew Vaughn is being eyed up for the Man of Steel sequel.
Like I said, this is coming strictly from the rumourmill. We don't normally report on anything that's a rumour or without reputable sources but our friends over at Collider have said that they have it from sources that Matthew Vaughn has entered very, very early and unofficial talks with Warner Bros. about the currently sidelined sequel to 2013's Man of Steel.
If you recall, what turned out to be Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was originally supposed to be the MoS sequel before it took on an unfortunate life of it's own. So it's been very quiet up until now whether we would be getting a sequel or not for everyone's favourite Kryptonian hero. It was confirmed last year that Henry Cavill was on board for at least one more solo outing for Superman but this is first news we've had about the movie in some time.
As we mentioned, there is nothing official floating around at the moment. Warner Bros. have yet to release any statements, as does Vaughn himself, and the talks they apparently had were at an early and unofficial stage. Vaughn is a very strong lead to take the helm of this movie, however, as he actually pitched a Superman movie to Warner Bros. before they decided to go with MoS. This is very interesting as it shows that Vaughn has some plans up his sleeves, should he get the job.
You'll be very familiar with Vaughn's work as the genius behind the outrageously violent and fun Kingsmen: The Secret Service and the first Kickass movie. With those movies under his belt, perhaps his Superman would be one a little less dark and dreary, which would be a nice change from the murkiness of Zack Snyder.
As soon as anything becomes official, we'll be the first to let you know. Watch this space!
