Last week we broke the news that The Lion King will be reimagined as director Jon Favreau joins the production, and much like The Lion King, the live action version of Mulan has also been put into a fast-tracked production which today received a release date.
We can expect to see the remade film in cinemas on 2 November 2018.
Both Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, previously writers on Jurassic World, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming Avatar sequels, will be writing the scripts for the remake and came on board in 2015 with specifications by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin.
No director or casting has been sorted as of yet, but a global search for Chinese actors and actresses will take place soon.
Now, we know a lot of people won't be behind many to the Disney retellings of the original animations in live action forms but we're very much on board with this retelling of the story, as long as it's done the right way.
Let's just hope Eddie Murphy makes a return as Mushu.
