Kenneth Branagh is busy getting everything underway for his feature film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s murder mystery, Murder on the Orient Express. Branagh may have missed out on bringing Angelina Jolie on board, however the cast he’s now added is pretty damn impressive.
We’ve already reported that Kenneth Branagh is going for the triple-threat with this film; directing, producing and starring in Murder on the Orient Express. He was looking at bringing Angeline Jolie onto the film, but that slipped through his grasp, but he did bring on Tom Bateman who is a Hamilton almnus and star of the TV series Jekyll & Hyde. But Branagh has brought out the big guns and added a cast that has us seeing stars. See what I did there?
Now boarding the train are Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Judi Dench (Skyfall), Michelle Pfeiffer (Stardust), Michael Pena (Ant-man), Derek Jacobi (Cinderella, Gladiator) and Lucy Boynton (Sing Street). Hot damn, that’s a cast and a half. Branagh really isn’t holding back on this film.
Branagh himself will be the lead Hercule Poirot, who finds himself on the Orient Express when Ratchett, played by Depp, is met with an untimely end at the hands of one of the passengers. Ridley will be Mary Debenham who is infatuated with Poirot’s assistant and Dench is Russian aristocrat Princess Dragomiroff. Pfeiffer will be the secretive Mrs. Hubbard, Pena as the Marquez from Cuba and Bateman will be Bouc.
Murder on the Orient Express will starts rolling the cameras in London this November with a release date set for 24th November 2017.
