Disney have announced that they will be bringing the release of The Incredibles 2 forward by a year. Meanwhile, the release of Toy Story 4 will be moved back to 2019.
The Incredibles 2 will now be released on Toy Story 4’s original release date, 15th June 2018 (at least in the USA, so probably July in the UK) - fourteen years after the original superhero family film was released. Little is known about the plot so far, but Brad Bird will be returning to direct, and it’s assumed that it will carry on from where the first film’s cliffhanger left off with the Underminer.
We won’t be seeing Toy Story 4, however, until 21 June 2019 (again, probably July in the UK). The majority of the original cast will be returning for the film, and Tom Hanks revealed on The Graham Norton Show that he has already finished the first set of recording. The story is apparently surrounding Woody and Bo Peep’s romantic relationship.
So it’s official: we’re now seeing our favourite superhero family much earlier than planned. Exciting stuff!
