With the shoot date drawing ever closer, Nicole Kidman has been in talks for a role in the upcoming Aquaman film.
Director James Wan is starting build the cast for Aquaman ready to begin shooting in April, and is currently in talks with Nicole Kidman and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II about roles.
Assuming Kidman signs on to the film, she will be looking to play the role of Atlanna, Aquaman’s mother. A member of Atlantis’ royal family, she escaped her kingdom to see the human world and ended up falling for a lighthouse keeper, resulting in the birth of the titular hero (who will be played by Jason Momoa).
Abdul-Mateen, who currently plays Cadillac in Netflix series The Get Down, is looking at playing Black Manta; one of Aquaman’s main villains who was first introduced in the comics in 1967. Assuming he gets the role, this will be the latest big screen role for the actor, who will be seen in the upcoming Baywatch film and The Greatest Showman, but narrowly missed playing Lando in the upcoming Han Solo standalone.
The pair would join a cast that includes Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as a scientist and advisor Vulko and Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman's half-brother. Wan is hoping to have the film released in October 2018, but you can catch Momoa, Heard, and Dafoe in Justice League on 17 November.
