Jumanji has been pumping out news and announcements faster than The Rock can pump iron. The latest generous helping of news coming out the supernatural boardgame movie is the addition of two new cast members, Rhys Darby and Morgan Turner.
Jumanji is the modern sequel to the classic 1996 family adventure movie which originally starred the late great Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst. We now have a present-day sequel being made which has the powerhouse cast of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Nick Jonas and Karen Gillan. Joining them now will be Rhys Darby as someone called ‘Nigel’ and Morgan Turner in an, as yet, unnamed mystery role.
While Nigel might not be the most exciting or most telling of characters for us to learn about for Darby, what we do know is the names that our primary cast are going to be playing. And wow, they are names befitting to the world of Jumanji. Listen to these names, they’re fabulous and ridiculous. We have Johnson playing Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Hart as Moose Finbar, Black as Professor Shelly Oberon and Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse. Those are some top notch names, I’m very impressed.
We don’t know very much about the sequel, well I say we don’t know much what I actually mean is that we know absolutely nothing other than filming is going on right now in Hawaii. And that’s it, the plot remains a mystery for the most part. If we’re going to make some wild speculation, I would say that the filming in Hawaii hints that the movie may take part inside the Jumanji world itself and that our core cast members may be a mix of ‘real life’ people and Jumanji people (Jumajians? Jumanjis?). But, as I said, this wild speculation.
Jumanji will be unleashing itself onto cinema screens on 28th July 2017.
