The acclaimed actor has topped the Forbes list of highest grossing actors for 2016, with Marvel and DC stars close behind.
Johansson topped the Forbes list after her films brought in $1.2 billion (£977 million) globally over the past year, with Captain America: Civil War and Hail, Ceasar! making significant contributions to that total. Her Marvel co-stars, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., came in joint second, bringing in $1.15 billion (roughly £942 million) each.
The list was dominated by superhero and comic book films, with Margot Robbie and Will Smith of Suicide Squad coming in at fourth and tenth respectively, and Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds coming in eighth. Amy Adams, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice came in fifth, sixth and seventh place.
However, with the massive success of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Briton Felicity Jones managed to just make her way into the list in ninth place after making $805 million (£649 million), though her roles in Inferno and A Monster Calls were also taken into account.
Forbes calculated the annual ranking using the global ticket sales of top actors’ films. Earlier this year, Chris Evans was named the best value actor of the year, making $135 for every dollar he was paid. In this list, Johansson was ranked in third.
Johansson will be starring in animated film Sing, out in the UK in January, and in the highly anticipated Ghost In The Shell next March.
