Shawn Levy is the latest director Sony has brought on to try and tackle the video game adaptation.
Uncharted has been simmering in development for a good few years now, but Shawn Levy has stepped up to take on the challenge of finally getting it into production.
The Uncharted series is a set of games for PlayStation that follow Indiana Jones-esque protagonist Nathan Drake on globe-trotting adventures to the likes of El Dorado, Shambala and the Iram of Pillars, quipping quips and shooting henchmen along the way.
Sony has been at this point before, having burned through directors David O. Russell and Seth Gordon already. Actors Mark Wahlberg and fan favourite Nathan Fillion have also been attached to act in the film. The latest script is being developed by Joe Carnahan, who also considered directing but is currently focusing on Bad Boys For Life.
Levy, however, has seen success this year with hit TV series Stranger Things as executive producer and director on a few episodes, and certainly has experience with bigger films - so maybe, just maybe, he’ll finally be the one to kickstart production.
