The Robert Downey Jr. lead adaptation of the classic detective stories has lined up a team of writers for another sequel.
Working together, Team Downey, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow have assembled a writers' room including Nicole Perlman (credited as writer on Guardians Of The Galaxy and the upcoming Captain Marvel), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden, The Homesman), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (2018's Tomb Raider), and Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli, After Earth, Rogue One).
What these writers will be bringing to things is unclear; the screenplay for this third installment appears to have gone through several iterations, judging by its IMDB page. However, the language used is interesting, as writers' rooms are generally the purview of primetime television, not feature films. It has been suggested that this might be a strategy to cut down on too many subsequent re-writes.
When we can expect Sherlock Holmes 3, and who will be directing it, is uncertain, though rumours persist that Guy Ritchie will return to helm. These are early days yet.
