We've had lots of rumours and hearsay, but the title for Episode VIII has now officially been revealed.
The next episode in the Star Wars saga is The Last Jedi. Along with that rather ominous title, we got a nice image treatment:
Ominous title, and red text rather than the usual yellow? Along with the rumoured absence of the traditional scrolling text opening, and the involvement of writer and director Rian Johnson (in this writer's opinion, one of our greatest working directors), this next Star Wars film really is shaping up, at least on the surface, to be an intriguing beast.
We still have no idea what's going on in The Last Jedi, but as well as talent behind the camera, we've also got a tonne of it in front: Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Anthony Daniels, and Andy Serkis are all returning in their respective roles (not to mention the late great Carrie Fisher in, what will be, her last on-screen role). Joining them are Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro, and Kelly Marie Tran, and if I keep writing about this film I might get myself far too excited.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently on-track for release on the 15th of December 2017. When will we get a trailer? I don't know. Hopefully soon so I can stop vibrating with excitement (who am I kidding, I'm going to be like this until next Christmas).
