Steven King’s critically acclaimed “Hearts in Atlantis” gets a screen adaptation lead by British director, Johannes Roberts. Set in 1966 “Hearts” can be defined as a coming-of-age story about a group of boys going off to college and being away from home for the first time. It documents their obsession’s, self-destruction, and what it means to be an adult in the midst of the Vietnam War where no one trusts no one.
Steven King has approved the screen adaptation which is based on his own time at college. The story centres on freshman who are poorer than the rest of their peers, surviving on scholarship and aid packages, who become engrossed in the addictive game, Hearts. They slowly flunk out of college and are thrown into a world where being outside of college meant you were drafted into Vietnam.
Hearts in Atlantis is set to have a 2017 release date.
