The trailer for Doug Liman's new war thriller The Wall, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena, is out.
The Wall follows an American sharpshooter (Taylor-Johnson) who finds himself trapped by a foreign sniper while his comrade (John Cena) bleeds out in the exposed no man's land between them. It looks tense as all get out:
The cast is small, the location limited, and this writer may well be in the bag for it based on those factors alone. Limited location, small stakes thrillers like this are a rarity nowadays, so anyone who takes a swing at the formula is good in my book.
Doug Liman is directing, and he's proved time and again that he can bring the action and suspense in equal measure on previous projects like Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity. He's also been working hard this past year; he's got another film coming out next year, American Made starring previous collaborator Tom Cruise, most likely running away from or toward various things. We'll probably be getting a trailer for that real soon.
The Wall is coming out on March 2017.
