The huge success of the Despicable Me franchise, and its Minions spin-off, looks set to continue with a new sequel on the horizon.
While this first look doesn’t tell us much about the story, it does reveal the new villain that Gru and new wife Lucy will be going up against alongside the Anti-Villain League. Meet Balthazar Bratt, an 80’s-obsessed former child star who can’t let go of his past fame - meaning plenty of 80’s references to satisfy a nostalgia-loving audience.
Almost unsurprisingly, though, the trailer sacrifices any feature of Gru’s three kids (Margo, Edith and Agnes) for Minions, because of course it does. The kids are briefly mentioned, though, so hopefully the film will find room for them even if the trailer couldn’t.
You can watch the trailer below and look forward to Despicable Me 3, directed by Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda and Eric Guillon, on 30 June 2017.
