Following the reveal of its brilliantly OTT title, the first proper trailer for the eighth movie in the miraculous Fast & Furious franchise has been released.
The Fate of the Furious follows the crew as they team up once again to... well, you know what the deal is. It's Fast & Furious. Just watch the dang trailer.
The Fast & Furious franchise is completely bizarre: what began as a near-DTV pastiche of Point Break, but with street racing instead of surfing, has morphed over the years into a big, earnest, supremely fun action series. This writer still finds it hard to believe that he's excited for each new Fast & Furious movie (even if they do manage to avoid having a concrete sequel naming system), but it really has become a benchmark for exquisitely-executed, straight-faced silliness. If haven't got on board with this series yet, do so.
Having essentially become a rollicking international crew of supercar-based master spies, the surrogate family at the centre of the Fast & Furious series have met their greatest challenge yet: Dom (Vin Diesel) has apparently turned on them all, shacking up with high tech villain Cipher (Charlize Theron) in the process. Also Kurt Russell plays a character called Mr. Nobody, and Dwayne Johnson teams up with Jason Statham. Also, for some reason a submarine gets into a chase with a Lamborghini. Plus the queen herself, Helen Mirren. You know you're gonna see this movie.
The Fate and the Furious is roaring onto our screens on the 14th of April, 2017.
