Movie studio, Warner Brothers has reportedly reached out to Google and asked them to remove their website and other film sites from its search engine claiming that it is "illegal". They've also asked for links to legitimate movie streaming sites such as Amazon, Sky and IMDB also be removed.
One of the requests, spotted by Torrent Freak, who have reported on the case, said that this comes after vigorous efforts to prevent piracy content from showing up in online search results. However, this has extended past third-party websites and in some cases, included some their own movie title's official websites include Batman: The Dark Knight as well as The Matrix.
Other movie studios have previously gone head to head with Google and have said,
"Google makes it too easy for users to find pirated content. Instead, they would prefer Google to remove sites such as The Pirate Bay from such results entirely."
Warner Brothers have yet to comment on the matter though it is apparent that the request was filed on behalf of the studio by Vobile, a company that files for search deletions on a monthly basis.
