The first full-length trailer for The Last Jedi is out. Watch it here.
Let's face it: there are some of us who are going to want to go in fresh. Indeed, Rian Johnson himself would encourage you to do so. After all, this trailer is a little heavier on the plot details than the last one, so fair warning. If you want to go in fresh, maybe close this tab, grab a drink, and wait until December. However, some of us (read: me) don't have as much self control. If you're one of the latter, you'll probably be skimming these words looking for the trailer despite your best judgement, so let's cut to the chase and watch this bad boy:
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper, a few stellar episodes of Breaking Bad), sees the return of the new and old faces of The Force Awakens as they contend with a resurgent First Order in what may prove to be a darker, headier film altogether.
Said new and old faces include Jedi-in-training Rey (the veritable force of nature that is Daisy Ridley), former stormtropper Finn (my boy from Peckham John Boyega), and ace Resistance pilot Poe Dameron (the brilliant Oscar Isaac), along with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill, finally with a speaking role), Leia (played by the late Carrie Fisher - I'm not crying, you're crying), and newcomers Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro, and Kelly Marie Tran. On the villainous end of things, we've got Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).
Along with the new trailer, we also got a new poster late last night, which shows off some of those new and old faces absolutely beautifully:
Hell yeah. This cast is voluminous and multi-talented, and (lead by a fantastic director in Johnson), we should be in for a real treat of a film. Oh, and also it's new Star Wars. Count me down as excited.
The Last Jedi hits cinemas on 14 December. This is gonna be a good Christmas.
